Medical Marijuana Prohibition – Update For Landlords

I’d like to update you on a new law that became effective in Michigan this year: the prohibition of medical marijuana on the premises.

A lot of people have a medical marijuana license and in some cases, they’re allowed to cultivate it. The question is, “Can we ask the tenant NOT to smoke medical marijuana on the premises?”. Well, according to the new law, if the landlord puts a specific statement in the lease, you may disallow the tenant to smoke and cultivate medical marijuana on the premises.
